A Good Review & Getting Organised

I know better than to read reviews. My mind is deliciously talented at twisting any compliment into something that needs improvement. But when a reviewer contacts you first, letting you know personally how your work affected them, then it’s hard to resist taking a peek.

The review came with the best of timing. I’ve just wrapped up finishing the latest print runs of Dear Anonymous 3 and Don’t Call Me Cupcake.

Yep, I cut out the cupcakes individually…

A lot of sewing…

I wanted to get this all finished before starting my next zines. The review? A bonus, warm fuzzy motivator.

Updates & General Admin

Adjustments

Ah, the business side of running a business.

Today I’m doing some general type admin stuff. I’m updating the fliers (the first picture) so people know what Dear Anonymous is a rolling submission aka always open for business. I’ve spent the afternoon sewing up some copies of Dear Anonymous 3 and Don’t Call Me Cupcake (while watching some scary YouTube videos). I’m also mentally bouncing around some ideas for being more organised in general.

I’m not terrible at the organising stuff; there are just little things that annoy me. As in, I keep printing fliers, but I’m not sure where they all go. (I don’t think I’ve sent out that many…) Also, my zine storage and associated paperwork is just one part of the top of a small dresser. I want to get some proper storage and filing happening in Casa de Sea Green Zines. I want to be able to, when I receive an order, be able to send it out ASAP. Bam, bam, bam. I have a thing for production lines.

I’d also like to be able to keep better track of my ink. Because I’m running out. So I discovered about five minutes ago.

Oops.

Hey… Santa…

I’m a Trading Card! Part 2

Whee! I am a very happy little vegemite today with the arrival of my trading card (plus extras!). By way of thanks for signing up for the thing, Billy da Bunny sent a few cards – along with mine.

Of course, now I must have them all!

How to Breathe When You Live Around Farms

I haven’t needed one of these things since I was just barely twenty, but here I am again. Alas, too much time away from the ocean and too much time in the dusty rural-ness of where I live now has managed to give me a knockout combination of hayfever AND my asthma rising again.

BUT at least now I can breathe, and you (probably) won’t hear me bitching about it so much anymore.

Allergies, Novels & Ninjas

I wrote a book!

Don't Look Back

Well, it’s actually a collection of horror short stories, but I wrote them! And it’s now available at Amazon.com for only 99 cents! Click here to check it out.

There’s no Halloween around here, but that doesn’t mean Zine Ninja can’t get in on some sweet treats.

Well, what started as some sneezing on Friday turned into something (worse allergies? a cold? I don’t know) that I’m still trying to shake off. I was determined to get Don’t Look Back up on Amazon by/before Halloween, so I put everything aside (including Friday’s zine review) and got it done. Woohoo! I’m a bit rusty with the formatting side of things. It felt good to do it again.

I hope you all have had/are having a spooky Halloween or simply a damn good weekend if you don’t celebrate.

So This Happened…

Apparently I need to “move more” and “lose weight” so I can “live longer”.

Pfft.

The common preaching line is to ‘find an exercise you love’. While a lot of people think dancing or swimming, I thought boxing. A couple weeks ago, I got the whole set up and have loved every bit of it ever since.

Who’d have thought that I’d actually like exercising in the morning?

I jarred my hand, it got a bit swelled and painful, Wanderer insisted I go to the doctor, and the doc insisted that I get an x-ray.

Really, this day has mostly been a product of other people insisting things. Haha.

Anyway, I’ll find out tomorrow if I need to plaster or wrap the thing. Whee!
