International Zine Month 2019 Day 2 – Zine Rewind

Hello, zine friends, and welcome to day two of International Zine Month.

Today we re-read our favourite zines and remember why we love them. Of course, this isn’t always an easy task. Haha. Especially if you’re like me and have a hard time sorting out favourites. However, my mind has been in a certain space lately, and this is the zine I have chosen to remember my zine love as well as soothe my soul.

Today I’m reading Pieces 13 by Nichole.

I’ve read a lot of zines and have had plenty of ‘me too’ variety light bulb moments, but the moment I experienced with this zine was a huge moment for me. It made a large part of my life suddenly make sense.

You can read my full review here.

What are you reading today? Let me know in the comments. 🙂

Until next time…

International Zine Month Day 1 – CanaZine Day

Happy International Zine Month, zine friends!

And so we begin. Today marks the start of celebrating and spreading the zine love and enthusiasm. Of course, I’m right here, ready and excited to get the ball rolling.

Today we buy, read, and/or share zines from Canada for Canada Day. Happy Canada Day to Canadian zine friends!

When I saw today’s prompt, one zinemaker immediately popped into my mind: Crash Reynolds.

Crash is a zinemaker, sticker maker, artist, and also the creator of the calendar that hangs on my Wall of Sunshine.

(And I’ve just now realised that I need to flip it over to July!)

So it is my pleasure today, at the end of a long day, to crash in my comfy chair with my warm blanket (it’s winter here in Oz), and read this zine from Crash:

Want to know what I think of this zine? My review will come later in the month…

And there we have it, dear zine friends! A lovely start to the month – a month which is just barely starting for some in other time zones. Haha. My best wishes to you all for the month to come.

Until next time…

International Zine Month Eve

Hello, dear zine friends!

How is it the end of June already? I’m not ready! Haha. Well, I’m not prepared, but I am very excited for this year’s International Zine Month. We have a fresh daily prompts list, plenty to do, and a lot of lovely people already gearing up for the month ahead.

As part of the fun, I’ve made a series of images for each day of the month. 🙂

You’ll find them after the ‘more’ tag on this post. You should be able to click on and then save each image if you’d like to use them.

(Credit would be cool if you do decide to use them.)

That being said, now it’s time for me to have a good sleep before things really get going!

Zine Review: My Favourite Graphs

My Favourite Graphs
Saff Miro

My Favourite Graphs is an A7 colour mini-zine of funny graphs and pie charts.

I do love a funny chart or graph, and this zine hits that spot. I’m not sure which one is my favourite – the Batman bar graph or the ‘likelihood of eating something healthy’ line chart. Either way, I was smiling all the way through.

I have to give a big hat tip to Saff because the colour in this zine comes from gel pens! (Or another coloured pen; I could be mistaken.) The colours are fun and shiny, and I’m impressed by how much work it must have been to put colour into every single copy of the zine.

This is a quick read but a fun and colourful one that I’ve flipped through a few times. One to check out.
