ZineWriMo ’22 Day 5 – Zine Ideas Book

Hello and happy Saturday, zine friends! Oh, it is a very happy Saturday here with some much-desired sunshine. I need that Vitamin D. Haha. Today we have a bit of organisation happening…

Our prompt for the day… drumroll

Whether you are a zinemaker, writer, artist, other business person… anything, really, I highly recommend having a notebook with you wherever you go. It’s nice to have a place to ‘catch’ all those little ideas we have throughout the way.

I have a little notebook that carry with me in my bag. But when it comes to the ‘hub’ where I keep all the ideas (and calendars, to do lists, etc), then we have my discs here.

I think I have a different zine ideas book each year because I can never seem to stay put in one organistion system for too long.

I am back in my disc system, which is a combination of life and work. Thank Ali Express for a stiff cover that is A4 size because they are so hard to find otherwise.

As I mentioned yesterday, I love all kinds of stationery goodness, so if you’re showing off your zine ideas book, please let me know!

Please let me know if you’re participating and where you’ll be posting so I can put your link/s on the daily list and other zinemakers can check out what you’re doing.

ZineWriMo ’22 Day 4 – Inspiration Station

Happy Friday, zine friends! Though Friday doesn’t mean the weekend for everyone, I still think it can be a fun, positive vibe sort of day. Especially when we get to talking about today’s ZineWriMo prompt…

Our prompt for the day… drumroll

As much as I would love to list absolutely every single zinemakers (because you all inspire me all the time!), I decided to shine a spotlight on one person this year.

This person is an all around awesome person with a great personality, fantastic sense of humour, an awesome drive for the business side of zines, incredible artistic skills, and so much more.

I tip my hat to zinemaker, artist, zine tuber, and swell dude…

ZineWriMo ’22 Day 3 – Favourite Creative Tools

Is anyone else having a little trouble with what day of the week it is today? There’s something about a month starting on a Tuesday that throws the first days off. I think it’s only the prompts list that is keeping me at all on track. Haha.

Our prompt for the day… drumroll

I confess, I am someone who loves to watch all the stationery videos. Markers, pens, washi, stickers, notebooks… Oh, I love checking it all out. But when it comes to my essentials for making zines…

Pens have been my life blood since I was a little girl. You wouldn’t find me without a pen in my possession. I love this pencil case and got it from Typo here in Australia. There’s a little fairy keychain on it from CoffeeMonsterzCo.

I go through pens like I go through planner systems, but my current collection of Pentel Energels, Zebra mildliners, and Zig dot markers have been with me for ages. I love them all.

I absolutely love washi tape! I have yet to make a zine about washi tape, but I will soon. It comes in so many different designs and qualities… There is just so much to love.

ZineWriMo ’22 Day 2 – Plan It Out

We are off and rolling already into November, and – even on day two – I am mildly surprised I am keeping up. Haha. Yes, that is the kind of person I am even having created the prompts list. But here we are, it’s day two, it’s Wednesday, and it’s time to rock and roll.

Our prompt for the day… drumroll

Hadass420 has really set a standard for planning out the entire month ahead. I am totally impressed and excited to see what she creates.

My planning is less structured and more breaking down my goals into projects and tasks (thank you Heart Breathings for that approach to goals).

With the next 24 Hour Zine Thing as my primary goal, my planning is pretty easy. I need to get mailing addresses for everyone who suggested pages, because everyone who had a suggestion gets a copy. I need to make the page labels so each prompt is clearly labelled with who suggested it.

I feel like my list is pretty boring, so I will end it there. But I do feel like it’s a good thing to have a brainstorming day separate from a planning day. It’s about embracing the enthusiasm with all your heart on day one, and then refining things on day two.

I’d love to see what you’re planning for the month, so feel free to tag me in any way. Especially if you are on Instagram!

ZineWriMo ’22 Day 1 – Brainstorms & Thought Gardens

Hello, zine friends! It is that time again for all the zine goodness packed into one month with a side of me trying my hardest not to run late with every single day. Haha. We start off with one of my favourite prompts…

And our prompt for the day… drumroll

Brainstorms and thought gardens!

I can’t remember off the top of my head where or even when I first heard the term ‘thought garden’, but it enchanted me straight away. I have been using it ever since – though I do pair it with brainstorms because people are more familiar with that one.

This year my plans are few, but more specific than in previous years. I know what I want to do this month, and I know how I want to do it. It’s nice to have more clarity than I usually do in, well, pretty much anything. Inspired by the thought of gardens as well as this video by Cindy Guentert-Baldo, I decided to keep my ideas on the back of my ZineWriMo prompts list in my own little sketched out thought garden.

I am embracing the imperfections and having fun. Plus, with my ideas on the back of the list, I won’t lose track of what I’m trying to do this month.

So that’s me for this start into the month of zines and goodness. Please let me know if you’re participating and where you’ll be posting so I can put your link/s on the daily list and other zinemakers can check out what you’re doing.

ZineWriMo 2022

Hello Monday, hello November, and hello ZineWriMo! Welcome everyone to this year’s edition of ZineWriMo.

I am so excited – as usual – but especially excited because I know some people are discovering ZineWriMo for the first time! Hello to new ZineWriMo-ers too!

What’s ZineWriMo then?

If you’re not familiar, ZineWriMo is the zine alternative to NaNoWriMo created by Jasper (I no longer have any social links for them) a few years ago. I am another happy participant who decided to dive right in and create a prompts list for the occasion. I try to focus on a list that gives a bit of challenge but isn’t too stressful.

In Jasper’s words:

ZineWriMo is a new idea that came to me in wanting to combine the original NaNoWriMo and zines!

ZineWriMo is November! We focus on making one, or many, zines in November! Our only goal is to create zines, no word count requirement!

Dive in, join up, and let’s get ready to zine!

Here’s the list once more if you’d like it. Feel free to email me at seagreenzines@gmail.com if you’d like me to send you it in PDF or larger .JPG form.

ZineWriMo Days 27-29

When your zine cat knows you’ve had a rough weekend…

Hello, dear and wonderful zine friends! I hope this Monday finds you well. As you may have already noticed, I wasn’t able to put up a Happy Mail Monday today. It has been a full on day with appointments and things. It’s late in the afternoon, and I’m still going strong with my to-do list. The recent changes in border restrictions here in Australia led to a lot of changes I needed to make personally, all of which have been very time consuming.

I plan on doing Happy Mail Monday tomorrow, but I need to leave a little wiggle room with that due to another appointment tomorrow. I am hoping that, after this week, I will have a completely normal and mundane month of December.

That said, let’s get on with ZineWriMo!

ZineWriMo Day 26 – Set Your Zine Free

Hello and happy Friday, zine friends! And what a beautiful Friday it is. The sun is shining and the breeze is refreshing here in this little patch of Oz. What a beautiful day for sharing.

Set Your Zine Free – Give away your zine or leave it somewhere to be found

As much as I would love to send out as many physical copies of my zines all around the world… postage is what it is. However, I would still like to set my zines free. So from here until the end of the month (and probably a little longer as I tend to forget these things), you can get a copy of the very first 24 Hour Zine Thing in PDF form by clicking on the link here:

24 Hour Zine Thing 1

Please enjoy and have an absolutely beautiful weekend.

ZineWriMo Day 25 – Warm Up – Write To A Friend

Hello, hello, and hello, my dear and wonderful zine friends. Happy Thursday and happy day all around. Today we have a ZineWriMo prompt filled with awesome feels in the form of…

Warm Up – Write To A Friend

I am always about spreading the positivity and good feels, and today is definitely about that. I’m a paper and pen kind of woman, but regardless of whether you type up an email or text, write a little note, or post a letter, a few positive words to a friend can go a long way. Today I sat down to write about some life joys in the paper and pen way to a dear friend whom I have known for a long time.

Even though I am a paper and pen kind of woman, I must admit that the longer letter style did have my hands aching just a wee bit afterwards. But it’s so worth it in my eyes. It felt good to write a letter. I know I will be handwriting the November Missive From Murray Bridge as well.

Did you write to someone today? Do you prefer a text? Email? A handwritten letter?
